AONB

Bridge is fortunate to sit in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the Kent Downs AONB.

The Kent Downs AONB covers 878 sq. kms from the White Cliffs of Dover to the Surrey borders: 33% of the land in Kent. Here’s a map

What does this mean for our village?

Bridge is a protected landscape.

We have an outstanding and distinctive landscape, which is safeguarded by law in the national interest.

The law imposes a duty on our district and parish councils to have regard to the requirement to conserve or enhance the natural beauty of our AONB.

However, we are coming under ever increased pressure to accept inappropriate development.
